My work examines the intersection of individuality and ecology through hybrid forms created by forging my conviction with fragments from our discordant collective experience, such as cultural allusions, fallen trees, discarded headstones, and brightly colored post consumer plastic. In objective terms, it is an examination of the moment a part becomes a whole and vice versa. In abstract terms, it is an attempt to conceive my own spiritual and intellectual understanding of the rapid transformations that technology and population dynamics are having on our psychological and physical landscape. My pluralistic aesthetic equally entwines nature, pop culture, and art history with broad formal and conceptual latitude in two and three-dimensional space. It relies on the mind’s innate ability to process and form a unified understanding from varied, simultaneous information sources. It is an intuitive response to the saturated visual landscape, littered by the flotsam of search engines and divergent histories, in which singularity and originality are instantly linked and absorbed by a maelstrom of associations. Without the weight of maintaining a singular style, genre, or form, I seek to suspend classification and disrupt associations long enough to establish genuine expressions about the vacillant nature of an individuals relationship to ecology.
